In
1998, after having produced wine in Portugal and Chili for the
Lafite-Rothchild group, Arnaud Warnery and Filipe Da Silva bought
and developed this new domain in Saint-Christol (Hérault district,
Languedoc region).
Saint-Christol
owns one of the oldest vineyards in the district. It is also one of the few names to complete the Coteaux du
Languedoc list. The
landscape consists of rolling hills whose shingle slopes dominate
the Lunel plains. The
climate is typically Mediterranean and benefits from
a good humidity and from the northerly wind, or Mistral.
The
20 hectare vineyard, with a high average vine life, includes the
four traditional grapes of the region, Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and
Cinsault to which the Alicante Bouschet is to be added. This grape
variety enables us to produce a rosé "de saignée" which
is both fruity and pleasant. We
also produce three red wines whose character is strongly influenced
by the soil.
Our
Bordeaux experience, learnt from the Chateau Lafite and abroad, have
given us the possibility to build a functional cellar by allying
modern technology to traditional wine making and wine growing
methods.
