The Domaine de La Coste
A
common say among oenologists is that the more the wine suffers in the summer,
the better the wine. Our vine does
suffer as it grows on dry poor soil, on the hills, or Côteaux, above the
Languedoc plains.
For
a hundred years, vineyards have existed on the Saint-Christol hillsides. They
were first developed by the Knights of the Order of Malta, then protected by
royal seal. The Saint-Christol wines received the "appellation d’origine"
label in 1951 and the AOC Coteaux du Languedoc label in 1963.
The
Domaine de la Coste benefits from
stony clay-chalk soils whose shingle rests on sunny hills favoured by the
Mediterranean climate. Such soils
offer therefore high quality wines both characteristically
generous and strong.
Luc and Elisabeth Moynier, owners of the Lacoste domain, have been able to ally traditional know-how with exceptional soil or ‘"terroir".
Rewarded by the specialised press, they offer a range of AOC Coteaux du Languedoc wines.
